OH MY GOSH, ALL MY PAIN IS GONE!

I had just lost my son after caring for him while he was in a minimally conscious, spastic state for four years after a car accident. This trauma made me an emotional wreck. My back and neck hurt all the time, especially when I would get up in the morning.  I wasn’t in good shape. It was hard to sit or stand for very long without neck and back pain.

I discovered in working with Betsy that I had been doing exercise improperly for my whole life.  It made all the difference when she showed me specifically what to do, why I would be doing the exercise and how to do it properly. 

I will never forget looking in the mirror and saying to myself, “Oh my gosh, all my pain is gone.”  The therapeutic movements Betsy instructed me to do also helped a lot with my horrible emotions, stress and anxiety. As a result, I also noticed my recurring nightmares of the trauma my son went through dissipating.  

Previously, I would ignore my aches and pains, but because of my new body awareness,  I began to automatically, have better posture, stand up after sitting to stretch and move on a regular basis. Through our work together, I began to feel better about myself. I am grateful to now be able to take better care of myself, and to be free of pain, stiffness, feeling stressed and anxious. I am now back to feeling well and that has made all the difference.

Before coming to see Betsy I did not have a lot of core strength and it was difficult to turn my head, especially while driving.  Prior to our work together, I did not know that the technique was so important or what I specifically needed to get stronger and feel better.

Through my work with Betsy, my body is more flexible and I have a good understanding of how my muscles, bones, and joints function, so that I am more effective in my exercise and perform daily tasks like picking things up correctly.  

Early in my journey, I developed great core strength and could feel my belly flatten and also have improved my balance considerably. Working on specifics with Betsy has meant everything to me because I know she understands me and my personal needs so that I can feel my best.

IN SIX MONTHS TIME, MY “SENIOR” CORE IS NOTICEABLY STRONGER

“It is not my opinion but a fact that Betsy’s methods work. Before Betsy became my teacher I had 17° pronation in my right ankle. In other words, I walked like a half a duck. After working with Betsy twice a week for a number of years my pronation today is less than 5%. For over 40 years I have seen several physicians, chiropractors and body alignment specialists with no tangible result. I gave up skiing in 2000 out of frustration since I was unable to keep my right foot straight. With Betsy’s help this year I return to skiing with two legs. I use to say that I’ve skied 20 years, one year 20 times. Never again, thank you, Betsy.

For serious structural problem or overall conditioning, I trust Betsy.

I’m middle-aged. (There, I admitted it.) And with middle age comes all the aches and pains that I wouldn’t have thought possible when I was younger: Painful feet (thanks to the decision to choose cute shoes over supportive ones). Constant back aches. Getting stiff after sitting down for too long. All things that I was starting to believe were just part of getting older. (Ugh.)

Exercise is supposed to help with these things. But not if you don’t know what you’re doing. Which pretty much describes me.

Betsy has changed all of that. She’s worked closely with me to help me fix the problems I knew I had (aches and pains–see above) and those that I weren’t aware of, such as how my lack of core strength was affecting my posture and even my height.

Since I started working with Betsy, the pain is virtually gone. I’m standing straighter, walking taller and feeling better than I have in years.

Betsy has been supportive and understanding and non-judgmental. My work with her has been–and continues to be–a wonderful and important part of my life. I know it will make a big difference in my well-being for years to come.
